Here we go again!
A friend of mine wrote this;
"Republican majority leader Bill Frist came on 'Meet the Press' Sunday and laid out the two most important issues facing Americans right now. What do you think they were? Iraq war? Nope. Economy? Nope. Health care? Gas prices? Global warming? Nope. nope, nope.
According to Republicans, the two most pressing issues that require our most immediate attention: the flag burning amendment and the gay marriage ban amendment."
Republicans want to add discrimination to the finest document this country has.
Some one explane to me why anyone should take offence at any two consenting adults making a public, legal and binding, commitment to each other, that in effect gives them the same rights as everyone else in this country?
The right to love and be loved. The right to be in a partnership and make decisions as partners, one for the other if necessary. The right to bequeath and inherent, all that stuff.
Why the hell not?
I don't understand? Is it about sex? Why should any one care who sleeps with who?
I sure don't. It's none of my business who anyone else has sex with as long as everyone concerned is of age, consents, and isn't doing it in my flower beds or causing traffic to back up at rush hour when I have to be someplace.
With the horror of war being forced on the children all over the planet, Aids creating nations of orphans, global warming at the tipping point, pollution threatening to destroy us all, the leaders of the free world are worried that gay people will be as miserable as the rest of us, and flag production may go up?
What bothers me most, is a good part of the countrys population are smugly sitting on their fat behinds, compleatly oblivious to anything outside their own little worlds.
They hear the sound bites on TV and nod agreeably to what ever they hear, happy and content to not have to think on their own. A nation of sheep being led to do what ever the government tells the networks, to tell them to do.
Don't even try to tell me the world isn't going to hell in a hand basket.
